Task 1 – Find and attend a jazz concert

Events > (asks for the meaning of the icons) > Clicks on “Easy Jam Session” > Gets full description > Wants to share the event (asks if it directly goes to Facebook; asks if she can share an event with those friends who are not on Facebook. Answer: > Clicks on “Attend” > Gets “Please log in” pop-up (asks: “Why do I have to log in”) > Clicks on “Please log in” > Decides to log in via Facebook > Logs in > Clicks “Attend” > DONE!

NB! After clicking on “Attend” a new form should appear asking if user has hosting abilities or wants to share a cab.

Task 2 – Find somebody who wants to share a cab

Clicks on a “car” icon > A list of people appears > Chooses a person > Sees his contacts > DONE!

Tasks 2 – Find an event by filtering

a) Decides to find an event by time > Asks whether the list shows the beginning or ending time > Chooses suitable time > Gets the list of events which start exactly at this time

b) Decides to find an event by date > Chooses March 11, 2011 > Clicks on number 11 in the calendar > Gets the list of events happening on that date

Filtering option is totally clear for her.

Task 3 – Add a new event

Clicks “Add event” > Asks if she can leave some fields blank (NB! add stars* to the compulsory fields) > Fills in the fields > Clicks “Publish” > Sees event with an “Edit” option.

Additions

Views and comment emerging from the testing session

1. A question arises if the log in popup also works as a link?
2. Add event button is not on a very common place so it was not easily noticed
3. We might need a select menu or numbered list of hrs
4. You many consider to make the Add new form a bit shorter (Justification was provided so no need to change)
5. On the name of the place may you consider that the name of place will be already in the database, maybe popular clubs to minimize spelling errors place shld we write the name of the place
6. If one has already uploaded an event and now I wants to edit how is that possible?
7. How do I know that the person lives where I live before you choose the name, may you consider adding at least the name of the region.
8. Maybe the icons may be difficult to understand for the user
9. What if you want to share my event on the face book, answer provided “one can share an event on face book after publishing”

Based on the above comments the following changes have been implemented

1. Log pop up now working as a link
2. Add event button changed place
3. The region to be included on the name details
4. A new button for edit
5. An share button contains email

We should take new pics with the write spelling

• Situation described in scenario is natural and logical
• Scenario doesn’t give much information about the system itself

This is a short summary:

Q: What’s your impression about this scenario? Is it real?

A: Yes, it’s real and I had a feeling that this page will really help Erasmus students to find interesting information they need.

Q: What are the weak points of the scenario?

A: I would like to see how you are going to introduce your events on the website. Will you have videos, photos or some descriptions of events or maybe you could have some examples…?

Q: But is the situation real?

A: Yes, it feels like real it’s almost like that

Q: Are the personas realistic?

A: Yes because we already have friends who are skeptical about parties because all the parties are the same and not interesting, so they are bored.

Q: And are their actions the same?

A: Yes. They are meeting, drinking before the meeting, and then going to the party.

Q: Do you know somebody who was in the same situation as described?

A: Yes, a lot of our friends are now in the same situation because they tried all the parties, so they are kind of sitting and thinking:  “oh it will be tomorrow, I’ll kill myself because there is nothing else to do…” So, if you create something new and interesting that will be really cool!

Q: Do you think students are interested in underground parties?

A: Yes, why not! There are a lot of underground clubs (I don’t know if in Estonia) and those are really cool places and people are going there.

Q: Do you think that students might be interested in cultural events (concerts or exhibitions) more than in parties?

A: Yes, I think they will be. Yesterday me and my friend were discussing that and he said there is nothing more to see and he would like to see some cultural events or maybe some concerts or something  like that, so it would be really nice because Tallinn is quite small town, you can see it all during one semester. If you stay here for 2 years you really need something more.

Q: What could be the most important feature of thepartyguide.com? Transportation?

A: Yes, it would be nice and prices for sure, because all students care about that. What kind of music is playing, dress code maybe.

Q: Why don’t you check cultural events in the internet? Have you at least tried to do that?

A: Yes. But it would be really comfortable if there was one website. You don’t need to search something else.

Q: Is it annoying to find information on the Internet?

A: Well, my friend really got angry when he couldn’t find anything.

Q: Why couldn’t he? Was it too messy or all in Estonian?

A: First of all, it was in Estonian, secondly he was trying to find something about Tallinn as European Capital of Culture and some events connected with it and he could not because it either was in Estonian or too messy. At first he couldn’t even find the webpage and said there is nothing else to see.

• Kim’s behavior doesn’t seem realistic for Japanese person
• If Kim’s nationality was, for instance Italian, the scenario would be more likely to happen
• Situation described in the scenario is partly natural
• Scenario needs more details about the actual use of the system

Q: What’s your impression about this scenario? Is it real?

A: It’s strange because Japanese people normally don’t speak with strangers.

Q: Even if they are in a foreign country and meet Japanese guy in the street?

A: No, never. Only if he is lost and needs help.

Q: But what if he talks to you first?

A: Well, if he asks I will answer.

Q: Do you thing this webpage is useful for a tourist?

A: The webpage is useful, but when tourist needs to know the address I’d better show him the way by myself.

Q: Then how do you find information about the event and location?

A: From Estonian friends.

Q: This doesn’t usually work for tourists… They don’t have many Estonian friends.

A: As Erasmus student I personally find most of the events on Facebook and invite other people to attend. But if I am a tourist I don’t want to see any events, I visit only sightseeing places which I find in tourist books or from people blogs.

Q: But if the thepartyguide.com really existed would you ever visit it?

A: Yes, but mostly on the laptop because phone screens are so small…
